Why a new MKII version?

The new MKII version of the Extraudio has 21 improvements compared to the previous version MKI.
These improvements include higher sound quality thanks to an improvement in input impedance and circuit topology, which allows for greater purity, transparency, and musical scene. Additionally, silence, musicality, and instrument timbre have been improved in the reproduction of musical recordings, allowing music to flow even more.
The capacitance of the power supply has also been increased, audio tracks have been shortened to further improve audio signal passage, and the number of volume control steps has been increased (128 steps) for greater precision. Finally, the battery life of the remote control has been improved (From 2 to 9 months) thanks to firmware changes.
These improvements together allow users to enjoy the musical experience even more.

NOTE:
Optionally, at an extra cost, the new V3 phono preamplifier for MM/MC cartridges with 10 adjustable gains can also be installed only in these MKII versions, providing greater gain, dynamics, and much more precise and organic sound reproduction of your vinyl records.

The new Extraudio X800 hybrid valve integrated amplifier is designed without compromise.
The X800 integrated amplifier is possibly the most complex project Extraudio has ever done, and the most versatile product we have ever produced. Imagine the qualities of the XP5 line preamp and XP-A800 power amp combined in one box. Now add and mix your chosen parts from the XP5 and XP-A800, add the PH2 MM/MC phono preamp, and it’s all packed into a solid Origin Series chassis, and start to get a feel for the result… one of the most exciting integrated amps you’ve ever heard that will keep you buzzing for a long time with control over your speakers like you’ve never heard before.
The new X800 is our definitive integrated amplifier, the fruit of 14 years of history in research and development, and innovation.
In the X800 we have used all our experience and knowledge, mixing as always old and new technologies, achieving a mixture of both worlds creating an absolute, different and complete product.
When incorporating our X800 integrated amplifier into any high-end sound system, an immediate improvement is appreciated that convinces and surprises in seconds. The speed and the reality of the restitution of the sound recording passing through the circuits of the X800 will be enhanced and represented in a precise and captivating way before us.
All this together, has given the result we were looking for, a direct, honest, and sincere sound; an unrivaled flat frequency response, a response in this type of product is unusual, causing a totally faithful reproduction effect of the recorded music that immediately captures our attention, the result is impressive with an impressive punch.
Since the start of the Extraudio project, we have worked on compatibility with other brands and products, studying the different characteristics, impedances, and synergies between these products and ours. After many tests and measurements, we have found that our XP5 line preamplifier, regardless of whether it is used with our power amplifier or any other, contributes much, much more to the reproduction than other products, which lose or fail to perfectly define the music.
One of the main features of the X800 integrated amplifier is that the electronics disappear, leaving only the music. The only thing left in your listening room is not your audio system, but the musicians and their performance more present than ever. This is a unique listening experience.

Technology:
This new X800 integrated amplifier uses for the first time in Extraudio an interference attenuation circuit and a buffer protection circuit on the audio inputs plus an AC input filter to block EMI and RF interference.
The inputs are connected with dedicated audio relays to a single tube gain stage configured in pure class A, so as not to lose any detail of the music and maintain absolute silence because the music is just as important as its silences.
The preamplifier part is a full XP5, featuring unrestricted output gain via our new differential circuit designed with gold contact audio relays and a 16db 16V RMS balanced output.
In this new X800 integrated amplifier, we have created a new three-step regulated, stabilized, and highly filtered high voltage power supply and all analog parts are powered and connected to our unique medical-grade wobble-free sand core transformer, the power supplies are dual and therefore the preamplifier circuit works in true dual mono.
We have also incorporated a magnetically isolated transformer for the digital control part, this has freed us from interference in the masses, giving us even more silence.
The entire production process of Extraudio products is artisanal and manual, made in The Netherlands, the soldering is done by hand with the exact temperature that each component needs, the tin we use has a high level of silver and is of high quality, and the components electronics are twinned and matched by hand one by one, all this makes Extraudio products unique and exclusive pieces of electronic art.

Volume control:
The line preamplifier is the key piece of an audio system, at Extraudio we firmly believe that 90% of the sound of a good high-end audio system is created in the preamplifier section, also in this new preamplifier we have arranged the control of volume at the output of the preamplification circuit, managing to increase all the parameters, gaining in quality, dynamics, gain, and silence. In the Extraudio X800, we use a separate two-channel potentiometer, in two very low tolerance, airtight compartments for a great stereo feel and spatiality.

Proprietary remote control:
The X800 integrated amplifier includes our exclusive Extraudio RC1 remote control.
Our remote control has been conceived from a different approach, looking for the comfort of the user. We wanted to offer high battery life and operating distance as its main features, and these objectives have been achieved.
The remote control does not have removable batteries but instead has an internal rechargeable battery that only needs to be recharged via a USB socket and lasts a long time under normal use.
It includes a USB battery charger integrated into the remote control itself, with a charge indicator LED.
The transmission range is 20 to 80 meters, “depending on the country used and the electromagnetic and RF interference.”
The design is minimalist, following Mies Van Der Rohe’s philosophy of “less is more”.
There are only four buttons: On, Off, Volume Up and Down, and Mute.
The concept behind this remote control is unusual, but in the end, it is a creation following the Extraudio philosophy.

Why don’t we use screens or other digital displays for Extraudio products?
Many people ask us why we don’t use OLED, LCD, or TFT screens…?
Marketing, aesthetics, and image are a matter of the competition and we are focused solely on the reality of the restitution of recorded music, we leave banal or superfluous things to others.
Many elements such as screens or other digital display devices pollute the audio system generating electrical interference and polluting the masses.
Our products are minimalist on the outside and incredibly complicated on the inside. Everything happens inside the products, and the necessary information for the product is simply displayed with LED indicators.
Keep in mind that it would be easier and cheaper to cut a rectangle and mechanically apply a screen to the front panel, but we do not work to control costs and use superior machining on solid aluminum front panels, even so, and with the extra cost of the mechanization we incorporate all the necessary indicators for the use of the product.

Connectivity and Home Theater:
In the Extraudio X800, we have incorporated compatibility with home theatre systems, with specific RCA and XLR inputs, turning the preamplifier into a bypass for your home theatre.
This functionality will allow you to connect an AV processor to the X800 and use it as a power amplifier. In this way, when you want to watch a movie with a home theater AV system, by connecting the bypass you can still enjoy the sound quality of an excellent stereo power amplifier of 40 Amps and up to 800W RMS x2 channels. Leaving the X800 connected to the front speakers without having to change or disconnect speaker cables, or spending more money on a second audio amplifier.
The Extraudio X800 has three RCA line inputs and one balanced XLR input, plus the aforementioned home theater bypass inputs.
Last but not least, Extraudio hasn’t forgotten about vinyl fans. With them in mind, we’ve integrated an RCA turntable input and ground and included our MM/MC PH-2 phono preamp module in pure class A.
For stereo speaker output we have a manufacturer of connectors of recognized prestige such as WBT from Germany, for us the best speaker output connectors nextgen, this company is the winner of one of the most prestigious awards in innovation in the world, Winner of the German Innovation Award 2021.

Construction and design:
As for the design and aesthetics of the exterior of the X800 integrated amplifier, we keep the Extraudio style: minimalist, timeless, and neutral.
The Extraudio equipment integrates perfectly into any home, whether it is modern or classic in style.
In the chassis, we have applied our construction experience, based on the use of solid panels of aeronautical aluminum 6000 of the highest hardness and quality. This construction provides resistance and durability to the product, minimizing vibrations and the chassis behaves as a technical solution for the whole, the thicknesses of 20 mm used are common only in our Origin line to minimize the microphonic effect of thermionic valves.
The front aesthetics of the X800 integrated amplifier has been designed in a simple way. On the front panel, in addition to the power button, there are two knobs: one for volume control and one for input selection. Associated with the latter, there are six LEDs in the central part with their respective legends, which when illuminated indicate the corresponding active input. At Extraudio we think that everything should be happening inside the product, controlled by our software, and not fill the outside with banal or superfluous things like useless indicators or digital screens that contaminate the sound.

Extraudio timeless and minimalist design:
Extraudio brings together 14 years of industrial engineering experience and a host of pioneering technologies in a distinctive and elegant design. Drawing inspiration from our ‘less is more’ mantra from the Origin range, it offers a unique aesthetic that combines order and precision with artistic expression.
Its shapes, radius, curves, and inspiration from the golden ratio of nature nod to our emotional connection to the art, music, and sound it inspires us to create, while the top and side panels are understated yet chunky, the rear controls are intuitive.
The front panel helps improve ease of use and its 20mm thick front panel helps eliminate vibrations throughout the product.
Each Extraudio product in the Origin line is encased in aircraft-grade aluminum, a lightweight material chosen for its acoustic properties to reduce mechanical vibration and magnetic effects. The panels are cut using state-of-the-art computer numerical control milling machines and treated with a smooth, durable ceramic coating.
We build our products without any financial commitment. We do not look at the costs but at the final result. This last concept is vital to achieving the expected result of an Extraudio product.
Our selected 6000 series aircraft-grade aluminum chassis ensures maximum electromagnetic isolation, durability, and robustness.
Our finishing process is as exclusive and handcrafted as that of our electronic parts.
The two exclusive colors formulated for us are black and grey, with fly wing ultra matte varnish and double quality control of each piece.
The process of finishing the Extraudio chassis is very complex, after 4 years of research we decided on these finishes that are giving us such good results, first we select an aluminum beta, then the computer numerical control cuts each piece, and once we have it, we proceed to wash the cut piece, degrease it, removing impurities by opening the pore and closing it again at high temperature, then it goes through the manual rigging process, manual polishing process, application of the layers of paint where we apply our three black, white, or gray colors Composed specifically for us with a ceramic finish and finally one or two coats of the exclusive “High Gloss varnish” mixed with bi-component epoxy for hardening, which is applied in a pressurized varnishing chamber.
Once these processes are finished, we proceed to the cleaning and quality control of each of the pieces and if everything is correct, we proceed to the final process of screen printing and assembly.
The Knobs for the Origin line, which is our Premium series, have black chassis, and 24K gold plated Knobs for maximum durability and aesthetics.
